Position Overview

The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, supports the Financial Reporting Manager in completing NAIC/US Statutory and Solvency II close activities and filings. This role also oversees the administration and control of key Finance systems, including the SAP Global Template and Blackline. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will drive process improvements by automating manual tasks and maintaining essential reports used in the quarterly close and filing processes.

Your Role:

NAIC (US Statutory) Reporting

  • Prepare the quarterly statutory filing for our regulator, including cash flow statement
  • Prepare the Annual Statement and supplemental filings
  • Prepare the audited financial statements
  • Maintain automated reports that generate key Annual Statement schedules from the ledger
  • Comply with internal control activities associated with the NAIC reporting process

Solvency II Reporting

  • Create the quarterly Solvency II reporting calendar and request list
  • Monitor key Solvency II activity and deliverable deadlines
  • Validate key components of the Solvency II Economic Balance Sheet (EBS)
  • Analyze quarter-over-quarter movement in the EBS
  • Prepare the quarterly IFRS to Solvency II reconciliation
  • Collaborate with corporate actuarial and risk management teams to prepare/validate key inputs to the EBS
  • Prepare the annual cash results template comparing actual vs. expected
  • Comply with internal control activities associated with the Solvency II reporting process

Financial Reporting Systems & Reports

  • Automate manual processes
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop automated reporting solutions for NAIC and Solvency II reporting
  • Perform system administrator & SME functions for SAP GL & Blackline
  • Troubleshoot SAP & Blackline issues
  • Maintain general ledger functions including open & close periods, user access setup and termination, account and line of business hierarchies
  • Perform quarterly report and hierarchy maintenance of key reports utilized by Finance in the close process
  • Run, validate and distribute certain reports to the Parent Company, Finance department or other stakeholders
  • Comply with internal control activities associated with the Finance systems and reports function

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in insurance or financial services
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience with financial systems (SAP, Blackline, etc.) is preferred
  • Comfort using and administering accounting systems
  • SQL automation a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • IFRS and Insurance Statutory accounting experience a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously by prioritizing tasks
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Effectively work in a team environment and on an individual basis
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Continuous improvement mindset
