Battery Maintenance Technician I

Performs a variety of processes, including disassembly, de-energizing, cleaning, reassembly, and re-energization of batteries and battery packaging. Technicians inspect and test electrical connections, components, and wiring charges. Additionally, they inspect batteries for defective parts, test fluid conditions, remove battery fluids, and disconnect electrical leads to ensure optimal battery performance.

Responsibilities


  • Learn battery maintenance principles and best practices.
  • Assist with disassembling batteries and packs using hand tools.
  • Use test equipment to assess battery performance and identify issues.
  • Replace faulty components and fusing parts to restore functionality.
  • Ensure proper mixing and containment of battery fluids.
  • Sort battery-related materials; package and prepare battery components for shipping.
  • Perform basic diagnostics to identify battery failures.
  • Use electrical test equipment to verify battery functionality.
  • Support repair and refurbishment of vehicle batteries for reuse.
  • Follow company quality management procedures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear all required PPE.
  • Ensure battery work meets quality standards and contributes to operational excellence.
  • Provide timely and accurate updates to the Alfred CMMS database to support operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years' experience in a related field
  • Must be a current EVBS contractor


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with hand and power tools; basic computer skills for entering data, checking databases, and responding to emails.
  • Ability to read and follow written operating instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, quality focus, safety awareness, and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Degree or certification in automotive or technical disciplines.
  • Experience in the EV battery or automotive industry.


Work Environment

  • Manufacturing or warehouse environment, which may or may not be climate-controlled.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Good hand and finger dexterity; strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Physical ability and mental acuity to perform duties within required timeframes under safety guidelines.
  • Standard PPE includes safety glasses, safety vest, hearing protection, and safety footwear; additional PPE may be required for specific tasks.


USD 17.74 - 26.59 per hour

Compensation:

Hourly base pay rate is $17.74 - $26.59/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
