Job Description:
Supports the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Office. Assists international students and scholars in
maintaining their nonimmigrant status and serves as the Designated School Official (DSO). Ensures Trinity University is
in compliance with federal laws and regulations pertaining to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of
State and other government entities as they relate to international students. Advises incoming international and semester
exchange students as well as international employees. Develops programs and events to assist international students and
scholars with cultural adjustment. Supports the international student population by providing nonimmigrant student
document preparation, orientation (including both the International Student Orientation at the start of the semester and the
semester-long course that international students are enrolled in), data management, support programming and student
organization advising.
JOB DUTIES
Interprets and maintains advanced knowledge of current federal, state, institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to F-1 international students and J-1 scholars. Responds to questions or requests that may require researching and consolidating data regarding campus housing, financial aid, health insurance, registration, tax filing and special department requests. Collaborates cross-departmentally to streamline processes and advocates for the interests of international students and scholars. Provides timely and accurate reporting and maintenance of information with SEVIS to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including SEVIS re-certification, registration and maintenance of data. Oversees the international student and scholar data and case management system. Administers the data entry activities by student workers to ensure data accuracy and integrity across all international student records. Prepares and processes nonimmigrant documents for admitted students entering Trinity University on F-1, J-1, and TN visas. Conveys information and updates of nonimmigration regulations to international students and scholars through online and face-to-face communication, ensuring accurate information is disseminated and quality guidance/services are provided. Creates and leads programming for international students to help them adjust to life in the U.S. and build community. Conducts group information sessions on CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT. Advises International Club officers as needed. Assists graduated international students apply and maintain their legal status while on the OPT/STEM OPT program Manage ISSS social media accounts. Serves as an instructor for the International Student course and leads the International Student Orientation at the start of the semester.

Two years prior experience with the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and familiarity with Department of Homeland Security policies and regulations. Experience living/working/volunteering abroad. Experienced in teaching and managing college level classes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Required:
Familiarity with federal non-immigration F-1 regulations and related practices. Ability to use software systems to streamline work processes and communications. Familiarity with student data management systems. Detail oriented and have substantial experience working with international students. Familiarity with website management tools, graphic and web editing tools, social media. Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff with patience and diplomacy in a teamwork environment.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Adobe products to facilitate processes. Proficiency in a foreign language. Knowledge on cross-cultural communication, cross-cultural programming, cultural adaptation problems. Ability to obtain up-to-date immigration regulation information from NAFSA and relevant associations and sources.
