  • UT Health East Texas Rehabilitation Center includes a 49-bed inpatient hospital, 14 outpatient therapy clinics, 11 cardiopulmonary rehabilitation clinics and nine Olympic fitness centers, with access to some of the most advanced therapy techniques and care available.

Responsibilities

The Olympic Center Exercise Specialist is responsible for providing a safe and effective exercise environment for all users of the center by supervising the fitness floor and fitness programs of facility users, assessing individual user needs, developing fitness programs to address those needs,

assisting in the development and implementation of medically integrated fitness programs and assisting with Rehabilitation programs of Cardiac, Physical and Occupational therapy services.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health and Kinesiology or related field OR Associate's degree in Exercise Science, Health and Kinesiology or related field and professional fitness certification as described below.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • AED certification.
  • Professional fitness certification from an approved organization for employees with an Associate's degree.
  • Excellent communications skills - both written and verbal to all departments - and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Excellent human relations and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent direction, coordination and evaluation of client care.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements, guidelines, and policies.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Certification strongly preferred for employees with a Bachelor's degree.
