Who We're Looking For

You're a seasoned credit professional with deep expertise in commercial and real estate loan workouts. You excel at navigating distressed assets, assessing recovery paths, and building thoughtful strategies that protect the Bank from loss. You work independently, communicate with clarity, and bring a steady, solutions-oriented approach to complex challenges. About the Role

The Special Assets Manager oversees the recovery, workout, and resolution of distressed commercial (C&I) and real estate (RE) loans. In this role, you'll evaluate repayment strategies, analyze collateral, negotiate restructuring arrangements, and implement solutions designed to minimize monetary loss. You'll collaborate closely with the PLC, senior management, Credit Administration, and Finance to ensure problem loans are managed with discipline, transparency, and strategic focus.



What You'll Do

  • Lead the analysis, strategy development, and execution of workout plans for assigned problem loans, ensuring maximum financial recovery.


  • Evaluate borrower repayment capacity and negotiate forbearance, settlement, restructuring, and repayment agreements with clients, attorneys, and stakeholders.


  • Manage delinquent loan payments, issue default and demand letters, monitor compliance with workout terms, and initiate appropriate collection activities.


  • Conduct site inspections; assess, protect, value, and assist in disposition of collateral to support recovery efforts.


  • Prepare PLC packets, collateral valuation analyses, ASC analyses, and other memos supporting loan classification and recovery decisions.


  • Assess collateral positions and identify opportunities to improve security or establish recourse across borrower assets.


  • Serve as a liaison between Credit and Finance on matters related to distressed loans and participate in special projects or credit policy development.



What You Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.


  • 7-10 years of experience in consumer and commercial loan workout, collection, and recovery.


  • Strong credit analysis skills and solid knowledge of loan accounting.


  • Thorough understanding of loan workout and liquidation processes, legal documentation, and bankruptcy concepts.


  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.


  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office and accurate keyboarding skills.
