Senior Engineering Technician

This role is responsible for setup, instrumentation, execution, and troubleshooting complex tests on materials, components, and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setup and maintain test fixtures and equipment as required

  • Exercise responsibility for thoroughness, timeliness and accuracy of work performed. Assist Engineers in basic test planning and execution.

  • Determine product conformance to the test specifications.

  • Perform moderately diverse tests on the Company's line of products and competitor products.

  • Perform tests per work instructions and request procedures.

  • Provide feedback on Work instructions to optimize testing value and data quality.

  • Develop new tests and data collection methods as needed.

  • Prepare moderately complex reports of test results and make recommendations.

  • Exercise responsibility for thoroughness, timeliness and accuracy in preparing technical reports on tests performed.

  • Prepare reports utilizing a PC with word processing, database, spreadsheet and statistical/graphical software.

  • Basic electronics understanding preferred - AC/DC circuits, motors, sensors, controllers.

  • Ability to instrument test articles (thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers) as needed.

  • Ability to complete basic wiring and soldering of components preferred.

  • Understanding of common machine component applications and assembly.

  • Instruct and assign work to other Engineering Technicians as applicable.

  • Demonstrate ownership of lab spaces used.

  • Must follow all safety protocols as prescribed.

  • Must able to stand for 6 to 8 hours per day and lift 50 pounds.

  • Basic machining skills preferred.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 4 to 6 years of experience with test equipment, test procedures and methods, mechanical/electrical principles.

  • Knowledge of test concepts in the design and development of products and components.

  • One year of data acquisition software experience.

  • PC hardware and software knowledge with the ability to program in LabVIEW, Visual Basic and PLC's is preferred.

  • Mechanical or Electronics Associates Degree preferred.

  • Must have a valid drivers license.
