The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Construction Project Engineer (Entry Level) to join our team as a member of our growing Energy Western Washington division. You will be joining an established and diverse group of people where you will be able to make an immediate impact. Project Coordination

You will be tasked with supporting the Request for Proposal (RFP) and procurement process along with tracking current and future jobs, reviewing contracts and drawings, and specifications. You will coordinate equipment procurement with our purchasing department and outside vendors. You will also be assisting with scheduling, assisting in the development of the scope of work with subcontractors, and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reporting. You will be supporting our site superintendents promoting and documenting a safe job site and coordinating subcontractor work.

Communication

Excellent communication is essential. You will be asked to speak with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners. Working closely with our project management team and responding to questions raised by superintendents and field workers will be a daily responsibility.

Documentation

You will create and respond to Requests for Information (RFI). Additionally, you will develop, process, and track equipment, materials, and informational submittals. You will also be tasked with creating site-specific work plans and creating operations and maintenance manuals for our clients. Other responsibilities may include:

  • Obtaining detailed knowledge of the contract, drawings, and specifications for a project(s).

  • Assisting in the client and subcontractor change order process.

  • Creating billing breakdowns and preparing billing substantiation.

  • Conducting quantity take-off and pricing estimates for internal and external uses.

What you need to succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management or comparable degree-or equivalent work experience. Applicants with relevant experience and no degree are encouraged to apply, as experience may be substituted for formal education.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates, and other regularly encountered items.

  • Ability to stay highly organized, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Customer service and/or office administration experience.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project; working knowledge of SharePoint.

The pay range for this position is $29.55 - $48.89 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
