Job Description




As a Security Officer - Utilities Patrol Driver in Petersburg, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As a Part-Time Security Officer, you'll use our exclusive Claim a Shift platform to view and Pick up open shifts based on your availability-giving you the freedom to build a schedule that works for you, while gaining valuable site experience across various industries. As an unarmed patrol officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in maintaining a secure environment at a utility location. Your responsibilities include conducting routine vehicle and foot patrols, remaining highly visible to help to deter potential security-related incidents, and engaging with staff and visitors to provide outstanding customer service. This is a driving post, so a valid driver's license is required. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the utilities location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and address security-related concerns.
  • Observe and report any unusual activity or security-related incidents encountered during patrols and/or while on post.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with Allied Universal management, clients, and local authorities as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of activities, incidents, and/or any security-related concerns encountered during the shift.
  • Follow all company and client protocols for security-related tasks and emergency response actions at the utilities location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • A Security Professional Guard Card is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
