What you will be doing at Globalstar

As a Senior Software Engineer - Satellite Operations Control Center, you will design, code, test, and maintain implement mission critical software in support of 24x7 satellite operations. You will be an integral team member throughout the development life cycle and will work closely with satellite engineering and operations analysts to identify opportunities for automation, evaluate issues, develop new software solutions, implement processes, and support existing applications.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Develop, support and maintain applications related to satellite operations system infrastructure in multiple development languages, including but not limited to Python, C#, C++, and Java
  • Develop, support and maintain system shell scripts
  • Create and maintain all supporting documentation and training materials
  • Work on system architecture changes to use micro-services and highly available systems
  • Investigate reported issues and create hotfixes when necessary
  • Work with the cross-functional project teams to develop requirements
  • Review and test code developed by other team members and off-site contractors
  • Follow the established Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development process
  • Implement Continuous Integration initiatives using Git, Bamboo/Jenkins, Jira and other tools for version control, automated tests and deployment
  • Support on call duties as required


What you will bring to Globalstar



  • Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
  • 7+ years of experience developing high reliability software using Python and C# in a Space or Aerospace environment
  • 5+ years of experience writing software applications that interact with time series and relational databases
  • 3+ years of experience writing software that interacts with physical equipment such as steerable antennas, motor controllers, or RF equipment
  • Proficient with Linux and Windows systems, RESTful service design, multi-threaded software design, and Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment concepts


It's a bonus if you have:



  • Master's or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
  • Familiarity with time series databases and user interface design desirable
  • Experience working in satellite operations and mission critical environments highly desirable

Physical Requirements:



  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
