Job Summary The Fleet Technical Trainer is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering comprehensive training programs to address the developmental needs of employees. This role ensures the provision of high-quality, timely, and innovative training curricula, encompassing safety, applications, and Fleet Mechanic job classifications. The trainer fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with Fleet operations to meet their business requirements. Additionally, the role involves assessing course and curriculum development, taking proactive measures to ensure employees are adequately prepared to work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The Fleet Technical Trainer also makes final determinations regarding employee training, work readiness, and progression status. Collaborating with Fleet operations, the trainer evaluates employee competency and delivers necessary competency training. Additionally, the role can involve Instructing or assisting with Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training as needed. Essential Functions Technical Trainer 1:
- Leads learning events to build student knowledge and skills with a primary focus fleet maintenance activities
- Integrates classroom training, hands on practice and simulation events that maximize student learning
- Delivers and leads training initiatives that provide practical experience for employees to build employee mastery
- Identifies and recommends classroom and hands-on training activity improvements while working with the curriculum team to continually improve training activities
- Partners with Fleet operations and support operations to continue to develop relevant content
- Directs the planning, execution, delivery, and facilitation coordination of training programs in specified discipline
- Manage and direct the work of trainees while in training courses
- Promotes a safe work environment by actively participating in all aspects of employee safety program and support our interdependent safety culture by ensuring the safety of co-workers
- Estimated travel up to 20%
Technical Trainer 2: (Includes Technical Trainer 1 duties plus):
- Independently provides learning activities for more complex courses to improve student knowledge
- Oversees training of tech trainer 1
- Implements/trains learning initiatives that provide practical in field experience
- Identifies and reacts to learning opportunities, while developing employees towards masterly level of job roles
- Partners with operations management to identify training needs and delivers programs to ensure compliance
- Identifies in conjunction with Fleet management training needs and delivers programs to ensure compliance with operations management
- Identifies needs and participates with Electric Standard reviews within operations
- Researches, analyzes and applies current technology and related training by reviewing periodicals, journals, attending seminars, etc. to continuously improve training courses
Required Qualifications for Position
- 2+ years of experience in automotive industry and background in training within a related skilled trades or in training military personnel
- Experience delivering effective technical training programs
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assigned
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of PC applications/skills
- Class A Commercial Driver's License
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor's degree and/or other technical related certifications or equivalent field experience.
- Possesses journeyman-level expertise in Fleet Mechanic work, encompassing large commercial trucks utilized in the utility industry, excavating equipment, and standard company vehicles. This includes comprehensive knowledge of airbrake systems, hydraulics, and diesel engines.

Salary Range*: $79,800.00 - $119,600.00
