Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President and General Manager of Biotechnology Systems will lead a major transformation initiative to modernize the historic Innovation Factory, and align with growth markets.The Biotechnology Systems business area empowers national security with innovative biotechnology-based solutions.

The VP/GM will be responsible for overseeing the performance and growth of the Biotechnology System business to include setting strategic direction, delivering Profit and Loss (P&L) consistent with business plan, interfacing with external customers, and managing internal stakeholders and a staff of project managers (PMs). In addition to extensive business acumen and personnel management experience, this role requires in-depth knowledge of Draper projects, technologies and customer community as well as highly developed strategic leadership and change management skills to balance execution, growth, and organization development goals while collaborating across the corporation and adhering the corporate policies and procedures.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and oversee the execution of a strategy that accelerates growth of the biotechnology systems business.With the mission to harness the incredible potential of biotechnology, combined with our world* class engineering capabilities, to develop advanced solutions that safeguard our nation's security and enrich people's lives.
* Deliver on our program commitments to our customers with super customer satisfaction across cost, schedule, technical, management, quality, and communications.
* Deliver 5* year Integrated Business Plan and subsequent Annual Operating Plan (funding, revenue, profit, and cash) to include accurate quarterly forecasts with balanced risk and opportunities.
* Grow business development pipeline with qualified leads > 300% of the following years revenue targets that align with our market business strategies.
* Win new business by converting pipeline opportunities into new programs with win rate >75% and capture rate > 50%
* Grow and develop diverse program management talent pipeline.

Skills/Abilities
* Ability to manage profit and loss responsibilities with $100+M in revenue.
* Ability to establish customer relationships with Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and other Government Agencies (BARDA, HHS)
* Ability to lead transformation efforts that unlocks growth.
* Ability to achieve and maintain superior customer satisfaction ratings
* Ability to create a technology vision, keep up to date with advances in technology and promote change.
* Ability to successfully lead change including organizational transformations.
* Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences, including briefings to executive management and governance committees.
* Ability to understand and summarize complex issues.
* Excellent leadership skills in developing high performance teams.

Education
Bachelor's Degree required, PhD or Masters preferred in Draper's current technology and product base

Experience
15+ years in executive leadership positions in the biotechnology industry with experiences in capture, development, production, and sustainment of systems.

Additional Job Description:

  • Proven track record of translating thought leadership into new programs by leading complex shaping, capture, and proposals using industry standard Shipley Business Winning processes.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading technical, cross-functional project teams using industry standard Program Management Institute (PMI) Competencies through all phases of the project lifecycle and diverse contract types particularly on large, complex projects (including research, development, and production) to deliver the project's objectives including technical, cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to engage with current and prospective customers and partners

The US base salary range for this full-time position is

$300,000.00 - $600,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement's approved rates by location and role.
