LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, PROBATION AND PAROLE FIELD SUPERVISION DIVISION, MADISON COUNTY

A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Master's Degree from an accredited university in one of the following: Social Work, Human Development, Psychology or Counseling, and one year of experience in social services, counseling, or other related work. Other master's degrees in the social and/or behavioral sciences that provide a pathway to licensure may be acceptable after review and approval by the Director of Behavioral Health/designee.

Overview

Under direction, is responsible for the supervision of behavioral health professionals, and may perform behavioral health services work of considerable difficulty as required. This is the supervisory class in the Behavioral Health sub-series. An employee in this class supervises behavioral health specialist and participates in providing a full range of professional behavioral health services to clients. This class differs from that of Behavioral Health Specialist in that an incumbent of the latter performs at the working level.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise the behavioral health services staff in their regions.
  2. Perform assessments on clients, facilitate substance use treatment groups, create, and monitor treatment plans, and collaborate with community treatment providers as needed.
  3. Assigns, trains, supervises, and evaluates a staff of behavioral health professionals in providing substance use and mental health services to clients.
  4. Participates in making recommendations of personnel actions such as employment, promotion, demotion, transfer, retention, and performance management.
  5. Provides professional guidance and clinical consultation to staff.
  6. Prepares and maintains a variety of detailed records and reports normally associated with the provision of professional behavioral health.
  7. Complete releases of information, grant entries, contact notes, data collection and monthly reports.
  8. Complete department training and attend required continuing education credits.
