Morris James LLP, a leading Delaware law firm, seeks an experienced Helpdesk Technician in our IT group located at 3205 Avenue North Blvd., Suite 100 in Wilmington, DE. The ideal candidate will have prior and demonstrate strong technical proficiency, as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills – both written and verbal. Summary The Helpdesk Technician provides front-line technical support for attorneys, paralegals, and business staff, while also managing and supporting litigation technology tools (e-discovery, courtroom presentation, trial prep) for cases. This role ensures smooth operation of the firm’s litigation tech stack and robust helpdesk support under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities Helpdesk / Technical Support
- Serve as first point of contact for technical issues: hardware, software, printers, networks, etc.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve desktop / laptop / mobile device issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and policies in systems like Active Directory, Microsoft 365, etc.
- Track and document issues via a ticketing system; escalate when necessary.
- Monitor and assess user needs to identify areas where additional training or refreshers are required.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on common tools, software and programs.
- Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to reinforce best practices and ensure effective use of firm technology tools and programs.
- Manage and support litigation-related applications: e-discovery platforms, document management systems, trial presentation software, deposition/trial exhibit prep when necessary.
- Assist attorneys and legal teams with burning CD’s, copying files to flash drives and courtroom support, supporting the trial director program and connecting equipment in courtrooms.
- Support courtroom/remote hearing setup: audio/video, evidence presentation tools, exhibits, demonstratives.
- Prepare, edit, and format exhibits (documents, images, videos) for presentation.
- Ensure security, confidentiality, and compliance of all litigation data (privileged documents, sensitive materials).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong customer service skills and responsiveness: able to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical staff.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Detail oriented; able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines (especially during trial periods).
- Solid organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks / cases simultaneously.
- Ability to learn new tools quickly and adapt to changing technology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred (but strong experience may substitute).
- Typically 3-5+ years experience in a helpdesk or technical support role, preferably in a law firm or legal environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of Active Directory, networking fundamentals.
- Experience with remote conferencing / audio-visual tools.
Working Conditions & Expectations
- May require extra hours during trials, depositions, or case deadlines (evenings/weekends).
- Some courtroom presence required.
- Must maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
