Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., is the nation's leading manufacturer of Ductile Iron Waterworks Fittings and Appurtenances has an immediate opening for an Assistant Maintenance Manager.Tyler Union's main manufacturing facility is located in Anniston, AL.

This position will support and assists the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Manager in leading a diverse team of electrical and mechanical maintenance team members in overseeing maintenance procedures, preventive and corrective maintenance programs to upkeep and maintain machinery and equipment. Assume ownership of all department responsibilities and commit to accountability for meeting all objectives-aid in driving a maintenance culture of exceeding customers' expectations.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensuring personal and team members' safety and promoting environmental awareness in the company's best interest.
  • Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
  • Develop and maintain a maintenance team built on expertise, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Interpret company policies for workers and enforces safety and environmental regulations.
  • Provide excellent organizational and planning skills for project planning and work prioritization.
  • Direct team members in maintenance activities related to the foundry or machining industry, such as repairing furnaces, conveyor systems, molding equipment, and all related equipment it supports.
  • Maintain and enhance preventative and corrective maintenance programs to ensure reliable and consistent equipment performance.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of facility equipment, machinery, and power systems to ensure product needs.
  • Provide continuous hands-on approach at the shop floor level.
  • Communicate effectively with production management team members on the shop floor and during meetings to fully support production needs.
  • Drive to improve production, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical blueprints and schematics, including troubleshooting and PLC programming.
  • Conduct After Action Reviews (AARs) on failures, determining root cause analysis and providing permanent resolutions.
  • Preserve equipment in good working order by following operating instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, keeping supplies on hand, regularly performing preventive maintenance and promptly scheduling repairs.
  • Prepare daily activity plans for maintenance team personnel; utilizes experience and skill sets to implement continuous improvement methodologies to increase output.
  • Establish team member work schedules based on production and project needs to include completion timelines and budgets.
  • Apply knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality, environmental procedures, and processes.
  • Keep knowledge and skills current by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, networking, and participating in professional organizations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists the maintenance manager in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the maintenance department to directly manage subordinate supervisors, technicians, team leads, and team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, or related technical field preferred; combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Electrical maintenance supervisory experience in an industrial environment required.
  • Experience in PLC software and operating systems with the ability to program, troubleshoot and diagnose input and output card failures and reset run fault errors is preferred.
  • Candidates qualified as a journeyman electrician preferred.

Ability to add and subtract and to multiply and divide. Uses mathematics to solve problems.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems.
