Genesis10 is seeking a Data Center Technician for a 5-month contract position with a leading client located in Milwaukee, WI. This role is 100% onsite and will train for 2-3 months on day shift and then move to second shift, 3pm-12am. Will need to be able to be flexible to be onsite at both the Milwaukee and Franklin office locations. Pay range $30-32/hr W2.

Summary:


Genesis10 is currently seeking a qualified candidate who will provide an efficient, risk-driven approach to managing raised floor operations within the Data Center. This includes asset lifecycle management, data destruction, and vendor security compliance (both physical and logical). The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and deadline-driven, requiring adaptability and technical competence.

The Data Center Technician will be responsible for managing inventory, maintaining cabling systems, and supporting IT hardware in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role is critical in ensuring that all data center assets and records are accurate and up-to-date.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide "remote-hands" support to data center customers.
  • Respond to and resolve support tickets in the system.
  • Provide Level 1 network support.
  • Test and clean fiber and copper cables.
  • Clean and replace SFPs as needed.
  • Install and maintain structured cabling systems.
  • Maintain inventory of fiber and copper cabling.
  • Quote and order materials for cabling and additional Data Center capacity.
  • Rack and stack IT hardware.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation using the DCIM system (NetTerrain).
  • Operate, monitor, and respond to abnormal conditions within facility systems.
  • Collaborate with the CEE team as needed for crossover work.
  • Gather inventory and ship network equipment to field offices.
  • Decommission and process returned hardware.


Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience working in large-scale Data Center environments.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, and hardware installation.
  • Familiarity with DCIM tools such as NetTerrain preferred.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand technical setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexibility to work on both the Milwaukee and Franklin campuses during assigned shifts.
  • Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
  • Able to work as a W2 employee of Genesis10 (no C2C).
