About the Position...

The SBA Credit Analyst I (SCA I) is responsible for building collaborative and effective relationships that reflect respect, integrity, and excellence with clients, colleagues, and the management team. The SCA I is responsible for completing financial analysis, documentation, processing and maintenance of lending products and loan files in accordance with all Bank and department policies and procedures. The SCA I will conduct financial analysis of Borrower financial information for purposes of new loan underwriting, assessing the financial condition of an existing borrower relationship, and providing information for a risk assessment to management. Additionally, the SCA I reviews application documents, composes annual reviews, tickler update certificates, maintains and monitors existing loan files, and assists in writing Credit Authorizations for small Government Guaranteed loans. The SCA I demonstrates strong teamwork and adaptability to support their function and to assist the SBA department and manager with other duties as assigned. All duties are to be performed accurately, timely, and efficiently, in accordance with Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines including SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).


Qualifications

About You...

You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a team environment. You also have the following:

Education/Certification:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Formal credit training preferred.


Required Knowledge:



  • Knowledge of financial analysis, business tax returns, business financial statements, and accompanying schedules.
  • Basic understanding of accounting functions and interrelation between the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Basic understanding of credit risk management.
  • Basic understanding of tax returns, schedules, and entity filings.
  • Understanding of SBA's SOP guidelines, preferred.


Experience Required:



  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial or business banking experience in lending, preferred.
  • Credit Analyst experience or experience in financial analysis of business tax returns, business financial statements, and accompanying schedules in an accounting or commercial environment.


Skills/Abilities:



  • Basic proficiency in commercial and SBA banking credit policies and procedures, credit and financial statement analysis, loan structuring and cash flow analysis.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis under moderate supervision.
  • Proficient written and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.
  • Good analytical skills including ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to apply financial concepts and knowledge to various circumstances.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations to management.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and flexible in managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software package
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer, adding machine, copy machine, fax machine, and telephone.
