Space Vehicle Mechanical Engineer, Lead

The Opportunity:

Booz Allen is seeking a highly skilled mechanical or aerospace engineer specializing in vibration analysis and space vehicle systems. In this role, you will provide technical input to engineering teams, ensuring the structural integrity, reliability, and mission readiness of space vehicle and mission payload. You will utilize knowledge of vibration dynamics, structural modeling, and systems integration with a focus on aerospace applications, including satellites, launch vehicles, and propulsion systems.

What You'll Work On:

  • Lead vibration analysis of space vehicle and deployable structures, including modal, harmonic, random, and operational modes.

  • Develop and validate high-fidelity finite element models and perform simulations to predict structural response under dynamic loading.

  • Design passive and active control vibration mitigation solutions.

  • Develop verification and diagnostic tests to verify mechanical performance such as acoustic vibe.

  • Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with vibration and shock requirements.

  • Contribute to system-level design reviews, risk assessments, and certification processes.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in vibration analysis and space vehicle or aerospace systems

  • 2+ years of experience with dynamic simulation platforms such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or MATLAB

  • Experience in modal and harmonic analysis, finite element modeling, and structural dynamics

  • Experience with launch vibration environments, space deployments, and aeroelastic phenomena

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with national security satellite systems

  • Experience producing high fidelity models of large deployable space vehicle structures

  • Experience in space vehicle system integration and mission-critical structural reliability

  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
