Reporting to the VP Human Resources and working alongside others on the HR team, you'll provide guidance to managers and leaders in our Branch Network, Contact Center, and Sales areas. You'll consult on best practices to maximize employee engagement and productivity and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Curiosity is at your core, so understanding the organization will help you proactively consult and provide hands-on and strategic program management for a variety of Human Resources initiatives. You'll make a meaningful impact by utilizing your HR knowledge and experience to assess business objectives and lead the delivery of effective solutions including performance management, employee relations, talent and organizational effectiveness administration, and policy administration.

Key duties and responsibilities:



  • Coach and consult managers and leaders on a variety of topics. Through this consultation, you'll help build people manager acumen and accountability.
  • Consult on people issues with management, balancing multiple perspectives and factors resulting in solutions that best serve the organization's objectives.
  • Support the development and implementation of talent management initiatives and programs, including performance management, employee development, management development, career development, and succession planning for assigned business groups.
  • Advise managers on how to resolve employee relations issues. You'll conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations while adhering to corporate, HR and legal policies. You'll take this a step further and identify opportunities to reduce employee relation issues.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to develop policies, programs, and solutions. You'll support annual HR deliverables including the performance review cycle; merit and bonus awards; benefits enrollment; employee handbook review, talent review process, and more.
  • Ensure compliance and minimize risk by maintaining in-depth knowledge of employment law related to day-to-day management of employees. Your keen HR skills will help you identify issues or significant risk that require collaborating with legal counsel for guidance.
  • Act as a change agent in supporting HR and business initiatives. You'll support change and readiness plans, including creating communications that enable the successful launch of programs or processes. Your success in this area will lead to best practices and a positive impact on our culture.
  • Use data to drive better business decisions. You'll evaluate and analyze trends, patterns, and issues to develop and influence recommendations, solutions, program/policy design.


What you bring


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Communications, or a related field



  • 5+ years' experience in a HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, or Employee Relations position



  • A proactive, adaptable, and solution-focused approach with strong project management skills



  • Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities, with influence at all levels


  • Professional verbal / written communication and presentation skills

  • A passion for continuous improvement, collaboration, inclusion, and positivity



  • Willingness to work in a hybrid schedule (2-3 days/week onsite) at our beautiful Lake Forest, IL headquarters and ability to travel to locations in our branch network



  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred




Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $89,929-$143,891 per year. This role is eligible for an annual bonus opportunity. A specific salary offer considers factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Consumers Credit Union provides eligible employees an opportunity to participate in our medical (High Deductible, HMO and PPO), dental, vision, spending accounts, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance and other plans effective date of hire. You will be eligible to participate in the 401(k) savings plan at any time. You will be automatically enrolled in the pension plan following six months of employment and 1,000 hours of service and reaching age 20.
