Overview
Summary: CAES is seeking an RF Engineering Manager to work on challenging programs in support of advanced electronic sub-systems and components for Radar, Electronic Warfare and Missile applications ranging from MHz to 40GHz. This role requires strong RF technical knowledge coupled with personnel management skills to manage a small engineering staff of 5 to 10 engineers. Travel requirements are minimal (<10%).
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and management of technical staff.
- Lead and perform RF hardware design, requirements specification compliance analysis, RF simulations (Microwave Office, HFSS), design validation, product integration oversight and transition to production support.
- Set direction and driving a team of highly skilled engineers with diverse RF, analog and testing experience.
- Providing RF engineering expertise and support to operations and other functions as needed to achieve customer satisfaction, revenue, profitability, and continuous improvement objectives.
- Managing cross-functional engineering activities as lead engineering manager for assigned programs, proposals, and IR&D activities.
- Working collaboratively with the other IES engineering managers to enable cross-functional and cross-site teams to realize the full strength of IES engineering capabilities, including coordinating resource assignments, tool selection, and procedure development.
- Talent management, including recruitment, mentoring, training, development, performance management, and succession planning, to assure that skilled resources are available to support required RF engineering tasks ensuring that the core technical competence of the RF Engineering department remains current, competitive and efficient.
- Resource planning, including monthly updating of labor loading analysis, to assure appropriate assignments for personnel, matching engineering skill sets and capacity to program needs.
- Identification of capital, licenses, tools, etc. necessary for the RF group to successfully execute new product development, proposal, and IR&D responsibilities.
- Management of RF engineering department expenses, including indirect expenses, to satisfy the business performance goals while complying with the RF Engineering department budget.
- Assuring that engineering activities are performed in accordance with ISO (QMS) guidelines, including application of appropriate tailoring based on the varying complexity and risk of individual programs.
- Lead, participate in, and facilitate continuous improvement efforts related to engineering development, test readiness, production readiness, and other engineering-related topics using Kaizen, A3, and other continuous improvement methods.
- Manage engineering Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data collection and reporting for RF engineering and assigned development programs. Drive improvements in engineering performance metrics.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 years of experience in people management.
- 10 years of experience in Engineering field
- 5 years of experience in RF/Microwave Engineering
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled
- by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under
- US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE+) or related technical field.
- Active security clearance
- Ability to use Enterprise-wide information systems such as SAP
- Experience with drawing-viewing programs such CAD or CAE.
- Experience in designing, testing and troubleshooting RF/Microwave sub-systems integrated microwave assemblies and components, including circuit analysis tools such as MWO or ADS
- with HFSS, Ansoft Designer and/or Sonnet, preferred; working knowledge of component design to include amplifiers, filters, misers, oscillators and switches consisting of using test equipment to measure S-parameters, noise figure, intercept point, compression point, switching speed, spurious and phase noise.
- Experience with generating proposals
Salary Range: Manager Radio Frequency Engineer: $157,388.19 - $243,600.83 annually. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
