CoverMyMeds' Technology is looking for a Senior Databricks Platform Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. Of note, our Data Engineering Team is a highly technical group of results-driven Engineers, Analysts, and Architects focused on providing our internal and external clients with high quality, repeatable and scalable data solutions. Together with our various business units, the work our Data Engineering team does ultimately helps get more people the medicine they need to live healthier lives.

What You'll Do

The Senior Data Engineer's primary responsibility will be as a technical lead for our business unit's implementation in the corporate Databricks solution. This is a new platform for our organization and a foundation for our business for analytical solutions requiring technical depth and leadership experience with the Databricks product, including Unity Catalog configuration, medallion architecture enablement (Bronze/Silver/Gold tiers), setup of logical data controls for security and governance, and configuration of secure data sharing and clean room capabilities to support compliant collaboration. This role will participate in the technical strategy and execution to provide trusted, stable, reliable, responsive, and secure solutions and proactively inform business partners on Data & Analytics platform and product health, and problem resolution. The Senior Data Engineer will work collaboratively with our other Data Engineering teams as well as our CORE Technology partners to solve business problems and deliver solutions.

Position Description

  • Design and configure Databricks Unity Catalog, workspace structures, and medallion-tiered environments to support scalable and compliant data engineering across McKesson/CoverMyMeds internal and external customers.

  • Build and maintain a robust platform infrastructure for petabyte scale transactional data across hundreds of databases from multiple business entities.

  • Design and implement data integration from MSSQL, PostGres SQL, Oracle and other sources into Databricks leveraging tools including ADF, QLIK CDC, and Lakeflow Connect.

  • Enable and monitor platform-level observability, lineage, and governance features, ensuring compliance with ITGC, SOC, SOX, and HIPAA standards.

  • Partner closely with Corporate and BU-level infrastructure and architecture teams to design and implement Databricks and Azure-based data enablement solutions.

  • Support development teams by defining secure data access patterns, logical data controls, and Unity Catalog policies for compliant use of visualization and reporting solutions.

  • Manage Unity Catalog administration, workspace binding, and metastore configuration, enforcing catalog-level RBAC and ensuring each workspace aligns with corporate governance and security requirements.

  • Oversee Databricks cluster policy enforcement, compute governance, and FinOps cost optimization to ensure efficient, secure, and cost-effective operations across all environments.

Minimum Requirments

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field (or equivalent experience) and Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software engineering.

Skills You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 7+ years of technical experience with at least 5 years managing Databricks environments in production at enterprise scale.

  • Deep expertise with Databricks Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, LakeFlow, Delta Live Tables, SQL Warehouses, and medallion architecture implementations.

  • Hands-on experience administering Databricks workspaces, metastores, cluster policies, jobs, and serverless compute.

  • Proven ability to design and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform, GitHub Actions, or similar) for Databricks and Azure resource provisioning.

  • Experience integrating Databricks with Azure AD/Entra and SailPoint for identity and access governance, including UAR process alignment.

  • Strong understanding of FinOps practices including tagging standards, cost analysis, and optimization for cloud compute.

  • Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Databricks observability integrations for operational insight.

  • Working knowledge of data ingestion patterns (batch, streaming, CDC) to support data engineering enablement.

  • Experience supporting large, complex, multi-tenant cloud environments with strict compliance and audit requirements (SOX, HIPAA, SOC2).

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$122,900 - $204,800
