Position Summary:

The Commercial Special Assets Lending Assistant supports the Special Asset Manager by managing, monitoring, and providing administrative assistance for the Special Asset functions within the Commercial Operations Department, assisting the Special Asset Manager with various tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Special Asset portfolio.This role involves preparing loan documents, contacting borrowers, managing loan files, payoffs, paydowns, past dues, and any other efforts to preserve principal and prevent charge-offs for loans in Special Assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with Special Asset loans by collecting documentation, financial data, drafting emails, and performing other duties as assigned by the Special Asset Manager. Collaborate closely with Special Asset Manager as directed to collect missing details, address inquiries, and provide updates on extensions, renewals, and modifications for Special Asset loans. Serves as primary support for the Special Asset Manager, including but not limited to the preparation/composition of written correspondence and memos, as requested by the Special Asset Manager. Assists with the creation of relevant documents for monthly/quarterly reporting Assembles and maintains loan documentation files to ensure proper order and accuracy, verifying that all documents have been properly executed and recorded. Responsible for electronic filing and retaining original loan documentation. Ensures documents returned from loan closings are complete and accurate. Assists in clearing any post-closing documentation exceptions. May assist with loan disbursements, including preparing cashier's checks, wire transfers, or other forms of payment. Supports the Special Assets Manager with implementing actions and workout strategies. Reviews and maintains recurrent status reports from outside counsel, detailing loan status in the legal process and making updates as required. Takes accountability to provide a best-in-class member experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate's degree or an equivalent mix of education and experience is preferred.

Experience:

  • Three years of previous experience in special asset or distressed loan support.
  • Commercial loan experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work remotely and collaboratively and maintain efficiency in either environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and strategic and creative thinking abilities.
