Role Overview:

The Regional Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety across all landscaping operations. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The coordinator works closely with field teams, supervisors, and leadership to proactively identify risks, conduct training, and respond to incidents. This role requires a hands-on approach, with regular site visits, audits, and direct engagement with crews to promote safe work practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about creating a safe and productive work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee safety programs and SOPs in compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and local regulations.
  • Lead onboarding and ongoing safety training, including tailgate talks and field evaluations.
  • Conduct weekly field audits and annual facility inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Investigate incidents such as injuries, near misses, and property damage, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, SDS records, chemical inventories, and update safety platforms like ISN and Avetta.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness efforts, including drills and CPR/First Aid training.
  • Oversee fleet safety, including MVR checks, drug screening, and on-road driving evaluations.
  • Manage workers' compensation and auto/property claims, coordinating with medical providers and insurers.
  • Monitor and report on driver behavior using platforms like Samsara, and support coaching efforts.
  • Ensure proper distribution and use of PPE and uniforms across all branches.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and promote a proactive safety culture through communication and incentives.
  • Support compliance with company drug and alcohol policies and assist with safety-related events and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in safety, operations, or fleet management, preferably in landscaping or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; bilingual ability is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PowerBI and Greenius is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; safety certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork, travel between sites, and respond to incidents as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple safety initiatives simultaneously.
