Job Summary
The Neuroendovascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) plays a key role in the delivery of advanced cerebrovascular and neurointerventional care at UCSF Health. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team that includes neurointerventional surgeons, neurologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and technologists, the PA supports all phases of patient care from consultation to intervention and post-procedure management.
The PA will perform comprehensive patient assessments, assist in diagnostic and interventional procedures, and coordinate peri-procedural care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include obtaining histories and physicals, developing treatment plans, performing approved procedures, interpreting imaging and lab results, and ensuring continuity of care through follow-up visits and patient education. The PA will also support emergency stroke response, contributing to timely triage and intervention. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $92.35 - $124.28 (Hourly Rate). Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).
- Minimum of 5 years of physician assistant experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by health care providers and team members
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
- Submit health plan (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial for all APPs; also, CCS for pediatric providers) enrollment by first clinical day
- At all times, must adhere to the UCSF Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct, PRIDE values, and applicable medical center/campus/departmental policies and procedures
- At all times, must adhere to all UCSF policies regarding HIPPA, privacy, communication, documentation, encounter closure, and billing
- Mandatory attendance at the Office of Advanced Practice Providers Orientation Sessions
- Mandatory attendance at the APP Onboarding Committee APP Onboarding Series
- This position requires flexibility for the APP to work at all UCSF Health facilities/locations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred education is a master's or doctoral degree and/or completion of a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) from the NCCPA that aligns with the patient population and clinical role. - Neuroendovascular experience ( Neurointerventional Radiology & Neurosurgery)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstration of clinical competence and in-depth knowledge in specialty area
- Basic computer skills
License/Certification
- California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction
- National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- California Driver License (if required for position)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Additional required AHA certifications: ACLS
- Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): None
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
