CNC Sheet Metal Mechanic-1st Shift

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This highly skilled role requires a master-level machinist capable of independently setting up, programming, and operating NC and CNC sheet metal machines and equipment. This individual possesses extensive knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing, forming practices, and materials, and contributes significantly to the efficient and precise production of parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Independently sets up, programs, and operates NC and CNC sheet metal machines and equipment with multiple controller combinations, simultaneously when applicable.
• Sets up and operates various manual machines (brakes, shears, riveting and hardware insertion tools, saws, drill presses) without guidance.
• Assembles and repairs parts, mechanisms, tools, mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, or machines.
• Applies advanced knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing and forming practices, mechanics, shop mathematics, and metal properties.
• Interprets blueprints, sketches, specifications, NC and CNC programs, and detailed routings.
• Follows detailed written and oral instructions.
• Verifies conformance of workpieces to specifications using calibrated measuring instruments.
• Maintains close tolerances and finish criteria.
• Produces parts within established quality and cost parameters.
• Designs and fabricates complex holding fixtures when required.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and forming ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Strong working knowledge of various manual machine tools.
• Highly knowledgeable and experienced in sheet metal practices, trade skills, and various programming methods.
• Above-average ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to follow detailed routings and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 6 years of NC sheet metal experience, including at least 5 years of experience setting up, programming, and operating various NC and CNC machines and equipment.

Physical and Other Requirements:

• Ability to lift and/or handle up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to obtain a secret security clearance may be required.
