POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Architect will help build our enterprise data warehouse with SQL Server on-premises initially with plans for a hybrid cloud architecture. Other technologies include Astronomer, PowerBI, Power Platform, GoAnywhere, and Epic's EHR analytics infrastructure (e.g., Clarity & Caboodle databases). This role will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall data strategy, coordinating the efforts of the data team to build the EDW, ensure robust data governance, and guide existing teams to deliver scalable data solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an enterprise data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Design, build, and maintain PowerBI semantic models, datamarts, and data integration processes using Cloud & SQL Server on-prem solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document data requirements, ensuring the architecture meets current and future business needs.
  • Work with our new Data Governance team to design and implement data governance and data quality best practices for the EDW to ensure the integrity and reliability of data.
  • Design and help develop the more complex ETL processes to support ETL/ELT from various data sources.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including data models, data flow diagrams, and data integration specifications.
  • Provide guidance and support to development teams on data-related projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the data architecture, identifying and resolving issues as needed.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging technologies in data architecture, quality, and analytics.
  • Provide guidance to leadership and stakeholders on data-related tools and processes.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, with a strong focus on building enterprise data warehouses and data integration.
  • Expert experience in SQL Server on-prem.
  • Experience designing PowerBI semantic models for multi-report support.
  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, with a strong focus on building enterprise data warehouses and data integration, preferred.
  • Experience designing columnar and graph databases, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft's Power Platform, preferred.
  • Experience with Epic's EHR analytics infrastructure including Clarity and Caboodle databases, preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry and familiarity with healthcare data, preferred.
  • Experience with additional data integration and visualization tools, preferred.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions, preferred.
  • Experience with agile project management methodologies. preferred.
  • Certification in Microsoft Fabric or Azure. preferrred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data governance, and data quality best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, complex queries, and stored procedures, preferred
  • Expert knowledge of programming languages such as Python and R, preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Fabric or Azure, preferred.
