About the Team

At OpenAI, we are dedicated to building safe artificial general intelligence (AGI) to benefit all of humanity. Our mission attracts the world's top talent in science, engineering, and business to address one of the most ambitious challenges of our times. The Recruiting team is at the heart of this mission, identifying and hiring exceptional individuals who align with OpenAI's values and cultural ambitions. Within this team, the Emerging Talent Recruiting function focuses on cultivating and converting the next generation of exceptional technical talent-through internships, university partnerships, and other early-career initiatives that set the standard for excellence and innovation.

About the Role

We're looking for a Project Manager to own and scale the operational backbone of OpenAI's Emerging Talent Program. You'll design and manage the systems, processes, and data infrastructure that enable our team to run a world-class program - from candidate experience and recruiting analytics to intern performance and feedback loops.

This role requires a balance of operational rigor, systems thinking, and program design. You'll partner with Recruiting, Clients, HRBPs, and RecOps to ensure the Emerging Talent team can scale sustainably while maintaining excellence across every touchpoint of the intern experience.

This role can be based in San Francisco or Seattle with a hybrid schedule.

What You'll Do
  • Build scalable data infrastructure for accurate reporting, recruiting health metrics, and program insights

  • Provide Reporting & Insights
Deliver weekly progress updates for recruiting, surface updates, blockers, and decision points

  • Design and implement tooling integrations across systems such as Ashby, HackerRank, and other recruiting tools to streamline candidate tracking and program operations

  • Develop and manage performance evaluation processes - from feedback collection and calibration to analysis and reporting

  • Create and analyze NPS and experience surveys to measure impact, identify areas of improvement, and drive continuous enhancement for future internship cycles

  • Establish standard operating procedures for all aspects of intern program execution, ensuring a seamless and repeatable model year over year

  • Partner cross-functionally with Recruiting, HRBPs, and Finance to align reporting, systems, and operational goals

You Might Thrive in This Role If You
  • Have 6+ years of experience in early career program management, recruiting operations, or people analytics

  • Highly analytical and data-driven- able to translate complex recruiting metrics into actionable strategy

  • Have experience with ATS/CRM systems (Ashby preferred), Airtable, and collaboration tools (Slack, Google Workspace) - you know how systems integrate and connect.

  • Excel at creating structure from ambiguity and designing processes that scale

  • Have exceptional attention to detail and strong project management skills

  • Passionate about building programs that enable people to do their best work and grow their careers

Why This Role Matters

Our Emerging Talent program is one of the most critical pipelines for OpenAI and a vital piece of our workforce strategy. You'll help ensure that as we grow, we maintain an experience that's operationally excellent, data-informed, and uniquely OpenAI - setting the foundation for the next generation of talent to thrive and succeed.
