POSITION/JOB TITLE: Strategic Sourcing Manager

DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Director, Procurement

TRAVEL: Extensive Travel - 50%

POSITION SUMMARY: Contribute to world-class sourcing processes and supply agreements. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will provide strategic direction for assigned categories of materials and services for SunCoke, while providing leadership of strategic direction for the assigned categories within SunCoke terminals and plants. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of Sourcing Strategies for assigned categories leading to increased cross-functional value generation. This position will be based in Lisle, Illinois.

Value creation, supply chain savings, and operational improvements through effective contracting and supplier engagement are key objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead and assist in managing key supplier relationships across the SunCoke enterprise. Metrics include key performance indicators (KPIs) as developed by the Director of Procurement and various supplier performance "dashboards" that will be developed internally.
  • Follow Industry standard of the 7 step Strategic Sourcing methodology.
  • Provide category insight and depth of knowledge for assigned categories/commodities, in addition to developing and implementing a proactive approach to commodity / Category management.
  • Analyses commodity and service requirements, creates RFPs, reviews and analyse bids, schedules supplier's presentations, creates RFP results presentations and presents to stakeholders
  • Partners with the Line of business (LOB) to establish and execute category strategies, provide category insights, recommendations and guidance based on evolving business needs.
  • Constructively challenges LOB in order to identify new value and process optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and manage contract portfolio to minimize risk exposure and capture benefits through process and contract language standardization.
  • Manage and maintain group data (agreements, project results, supplier communication, etc.).
  • Participate and lead key supplier meetings across SunCoke.
  • Acts as a business partner and change agent to fully understand business needs and ensure buy-in and successful implementation of Strategic Sourcing strategies.
  • Extensive travel expected - The Strategic Sourcing Manager must develop rapport and confidence of our customers, the SunCoke plants and terminals, and our suppliers.
  • Provide mentorship to others into the SunCoke strategic sourcing process.
  • Performs category planning and Stakeholder agreement to identify current and upcoming Sourcing needs and compare to specific market conditions.
  • Lead supplier/SunCoke business reviews to insure accountability and compliance with agreements.
  • Manages supplier relationships, negotiates at a senior level and serves as the lead in mediation/problem resolution.
  • Provide Procurement personnel across the SunCoke fleet with help developing project scope and key performance requirements that lead to successful project implementations and ongoing supplier relationships.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Science, or Engineering or Ten+ years industrial experience with demonstrated accomplishments that drove operational and supply chain excellence.
  • A comprehensive background in procurement, supply chain, Finance, manufacturing operations, management consulting, project management, and / or material sciences is beneficial to success. Ideal candidate will also have prior experience working in a steel mill, other process industry, or service centre environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Leadership: Demonstrates a high energy level and the capacity to work at a fast pace. A penchant for action, a "can do" attitude that creates and responds positively to new business ideas and challenges. The ability to lead by example and knowledge.
  • Business Acumen: Has a general management perspective, understands how to develop and deploy information, and conduct financial analysis. Envisions the big picture and is able to breakdown projects into implementable phases, given business priorities and considerations. Exhibits organizational mentoring and decision-making.
  • Communication Skills: Communicates professionally and effectively in all forums, including suppliers, consultants, corporate management, and the internal organizations. Demonstrates exciting presentation skills, written skills, and verbal communication skills. Communicates effectively internally and externally.
  • Creativity: Has the ability to demonstrate leadership to create growth in a company. Has the ability to excel in an environment that experienced fast growth and relishes new business development and dynamic markets.

CERTIFICATIONS:



  • Professional Procurement, Supply Chain certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, etc.) a plus


Base pay $117,700 - $147,100 based on experience.

Annual performance bonus target 15%
