SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the UXO Supervisor, assists with the detection and removal of unexploded ordinance. This project is for a removal action to remove Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) and Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. DESCRIPTION:
Travel expenses for mobilization/demobilization include mileage from your home of record to the project site and back to your home of record upon completion of the assignment. A budget of up 8 hours each way is allocated for travel time. Meal and lodging per diem rates are $215 per day ($195 on the first day of travel and $60 on the last day of travel). Mobilization is expected to be on or around November 12. The UXO Tech III will start with DAWSON on or around October 31 in order to complete onboarding and training. The project duration is expected to be three months (through March 2026). This hourly position pays $48.09 per hour base salary plus $5.09 per hour health and welfare (H&W) benefits and is eligible for hazard pay differential (4% and 8%) based on assigned tasks. Please note H&W benefits are paid for a maximum of 40 hours per week. A UXO resume, copies of applicable certifications, and a current medical clearance certificate should be included with your application.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for identifying all types of military munitions, including possible fuses and their condition, armed or unarmed.
* Reconnoiter and classify UXO and Discarded Military Munitions (DMM).
* Excavate subsurface UXO and DMM and move and/or consolidate materials that have been determined safe to move by UXO Supervisor.
* May be part of a UXO demolition and disposal team and assist in the inspection of various explosive ordnance.
* Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
* Properly store explosive materials and prepare an on-site holding area to temporarily stow MEC that has an acceptable risk of movement.
* Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
* Certificates, licenses and registrations required: 40 Hour HAZWOPER, Current 8 Hour annual HAZWOPER Refresher
* Must be a graduate of a formal UXO training course of instruction or EOD Assistant courses by a certified Department of Defense training facility.
* Must meet the UXO I Technician requirements as promulgated by DDESB TP-18.
* Must be familiar with and have ability to carry out all job performance requirements in accordance with operational procedures.
