Summary
Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data. Essential Functions -Perform cell culture, primary neuron culture, iPSC culture maintenance, and in vitro assays, examine protein expression level by ELISA and western blot. -Perform genetic, biochemical and phenotype tests. -Execute general molecular biology e.g. cloning, plasmid preps, genomic DNA and RNA isolation, PCR. -Contribute to design of research protocols along with research associates; troubleshoot problems as they arise; initiate alternative protocols/approaches and modify existing technique for better efficiency. -Maintain complete and accurate record of experimentation. Assist in the planning/development of daily and long-term research projects; assist in manuscript and meeting preparation. -Maintain resource inventories. -Perform all other duties/responsibilities as directed. -Coordinate daily schedule of experiments. Responsible for data management: collect, record, tabulate, and present data. Create graphs of experimental, perform statistical tests, and discuss progress of work regularly with supervisor. -Work independently, under minimal supervision. Execute protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. -Develop modification of existing techniques, as appropriate. In collaboration with other members of the research team, give input to research design. -Calculate, transcribe, and graph data. -Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures. -Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines. -Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed. -Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results. -Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods. -Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports. Education Experience - Must have experience in wet labs preferably with cell line/iPSC work. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -Strong research design, execution and analytical skills. -Ability to work effectively and productively while being involved in several experimental protocols simultaneously. -Knowledge of various laboratory techniques including molecular cloning, immunochemical assays and western blotting, proper sample handling and universal precautions. -Knowledge of and ability to trouble shoot techniques such as plasmid construction, mammalian cell transfection, gel electrophoresis and sterile tissue culture. -Strong database statistical skills, written and verbal presentation skills. -Attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills, ability to evaluate and organize data for presentation, good oral and written communication skills. -Ability to work productively and effectively with focus under pressure. -Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner. -Good interpersonal skills. -Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
