Washington Trust is seeking a Mortgage Closer to join our growing Retail Lending division. This position will join a team that ensures the timely and accurate closing of mortgage loans according to regulations and procedures.



We're looking for a detail-oriented, resourceful professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting colleagues and clients.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Coordinating loan closings with the loan officers, attorneys and title companies
  • Preparing both the initial and final closing disclosure in accordance with TRID guidelines
  • Preparing closing documents for all purchase and refinance mortgage loan transactions
  • Initiating follow up on all outstanding items after the loan closes
  • Funding loans, sending wires, cutting checks



Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED. BS/BA degree in a business program preferred
  • Two years of relevant experience in mortgage loan processing or closing
  • Familiarity with guidelines for all types of mortgage loans including Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, VA and state housing agencies
  • Experience with one or more bank/mortgage industry Loan Origination Systems (Encompass)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills, as well as prior experience with CRM systems
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills



The position may be based out of our Westerly (RI) or Warwick (RI) locations with anticipated remote days.
