Role Snapshot

The Senior Leave and Accommodation Administrator ensures organizational success by managing leave of absence, workers' compensation, and workplace accommodation programs with a focus on both regulatory and organizational compliance and productivity. The role serves as a trusted advisor for leaders and employees providing expertise in the navigation of complex health-related challenges while safeguarding business continuity. By integrating risk management with employee support, the Senior Leave and Accommodation Administrator strengthens a culture of accountability, resilience, and sustainable performance.

Salary Range

$75,000 - $85,000

The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Work Location

Our first consideration will be to have this new employee live in the Greater Madison, WI area to take advantage of Hybrid work and collaboration. Employees living within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI) will be expected to be able to work in the office 2 days a week.

Secondary priority will be given to remote candidates in WI, IL, MN, or IA.
**If not regionally local to Madison, WI, frequent monthly travel to our WPS Headquarters will be expected.

How do I know this opportunity is right for me? In this role you will:



  • Serve as a trusted partner to leaders, employees and HR partners by providing guidance and support for leave and accommodation matters.
  • Manage leave of absence and workplace accommodation programs, ensuring they are compliant, equitable, and aligned with company culture and values.
  • Consult with managers and HR partners to develop effective solutions that balance operational needs with employee health requirements.
  • Identify trends and insights from leave and accommodation data to recommend proactive strategies that enhance employee engagement, reduce absenteeism, and support workforce sustainability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, Payroll, and Legal to ensure seamless processes and consistent communication.
  • Manage relationships with third-party administrators (TPAs) to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality service delivery for employees and leaders.
  • Educate leaders and employees on leave, accommodation, and well-being resources, fostering awareness and understanding across the organization.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate compliance, legal, and operational risks related to leaves and accommodations, ensuring organizational practices remain fair, consistent, and defensible.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of programs, policies, and practices that drive both compliance and long-term workforce productivity.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in leave administration, accommodations, employee relations, or a related HR specialty.
  • Strong knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other federal/state employment laws with the ability to translate regulations into practical, business-aligned solutions.
  • Proven ability to consult with leaders and employees, balancing empathy with organizational priorities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Skilled in risk mitigation, with the ability to recognize compliance, legal, and employee relations risks and proactively recommend strategies to reduce exposure.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage complex, sensitive cases while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across levels of the organization.
