Shop Helper

Lapeyre Stair, a Division of Laitram LLC, is currently seeking a Shop Helper for our shop in Harahan, LA, who will be responsible for the fabrication of stairs systems to our specifications. Applicants should be self-starters, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping/clean up in assigned area
• Prepare carts with precut material and deliver to stations
• Operate shop equipment as necessary
• Assist production employees in performance of their duties
• Assist Lay-out, measure, position, align, and fit into place
• Gather materials.
• Move material to next station
• Other duties as assigned
• It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma.
• Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environment
• Entry level knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required
• Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment to move and align materials
• Must be able to learn Lapeyre Quality Standards
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

• Previous welding experience and/or vocational training.
• Previous overhead crane experience
• Previous forklift experience
• Experience working with the following equipment: flux core welding equipment, hand grinder, measuring tools, burning equipment, hammers, material handling equipment, saws, and other fabrication equipment
