Position Summary
THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 1 YEAR.

The Song Laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to support neuroscience research and lab operations.
This contributing-level position offers the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Song and senior lab members on innovative research projects. The technician will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day functioning of the lab, contributing to experimental efforts, and assisting with lab coordination and management tasks.
This is a time-limited position with an estimated duration of 1 year.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to follow established protocols and procedures in a laboratory setting.
Basic understanding of scientific principles and laboratory safety.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a research team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience working in a research laboratory, especially in neuroscience or molecular biology.
Familiarity with basic lab techniques such as:
o PCR
o Western blotting
o Immunofluorescence staining
o Microscopy
Experience with rodent handling and care, including genotyping and behavioral testing.
Understanding of IACUC protocols and ethical animal research standards.
Ability to prepare buffers, solutions, and reagents accurately.
Comfort using digital lab notebooks or data management systems.
Required Licenses/Certifications
