This is full-time role primarily remote, with a hybrid structure. The position requires occasional in-person clinic visits (approximately twice per month) and periodic trips to the administrative office for tasks such as mailing outreach (around once every other week).



The Quality Improvement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the organization and delivery of high-quality patient outreach and quality improvement initiatives. This includes developing and participating on GHC-SCW committees and ongoing collaboration with other members of the Quality and Population Health team. Participation includes recommending, assisting, and selecting in the design of programs, quality improvement initiatives, and outreach methods to help members inclusive of all product lines manage their preventive health and chronic illnesses. Outreach methods may include telephone calls, digital contacts, mailings, and arranging and scheduling appointments and other services. The incumbent performs the job responsibilities with a health equity framework and with independence in decision making. The incumbent will work closely with partnering organizations to ensure GHC-SCW's full membership is served. This includes but is not limited to Access Community Health Center and UW Health. The incumbent represents GHC-SCW at community events and provides and supports additional and administrative duties, as assigned.



This position requires excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, computer, organization and prioritization skills. As well as strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Primary direction, guidance and supervision is provided by the Clinical Quality Coordinator with additional accountabilities to the Quality & Population Health Director, as assigned.

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications



  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant major, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is preferred.
  2. Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of relevant clinical experience in healthcare delivery or insurance setting is required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  3. Knowledge of and proven proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio is required. Proficiency in Share Point is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of mathematical concepts for spreadsheet, data entry, and analysis required. Accurate data entry skills required.
  5. Ability to read, develop, write, explain and critique a variety of creative written patient outreach materials in collaboration with various subject matter experts.
  6. Strong documentation skills required. Ability to document, design, and create meeting materials, general correspondence, memos, charts, tables, graphs, web page content, reports, etc., required.
  7. Ability to learn and effectively use multiple computer systems including electronic medical record and scheduling systems (e.g. Epic Systems) is required. Epic experience preferred.
  8. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills are required. Excellent customer service skills and ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone required.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team.
  10. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work closely with community contacts, diverse corporate and membership populations. The ability to represent GHC-SCW in a professional and compassionate manner is required.
  11. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, solve problems, maintain accurate files, draft reports, and attend to details required.
  12. Ability to be flexible, meet deadlines, work under pressure, manage changing priorities, and work with minimal supervision required.
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality is required. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA privacy requirements required.
  14. Knowledge of or ability to learn about healthcare delivery systems including insurance and managed care.
  15. Ability to keep abreast of legal and regulatory quality programs and changes affecting the delivery of healthcare is required. This includes but not limited to NCQA and the BadgerCare Quality Program.
  16. Ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
  17. Some travel may be required between various clinical and other service sites. If driving a vehicle possession of a valid Wisconsin driver license is required.
  18. Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, and carry up to 20lbs occasionally required.
