Rutgers University School of Nursing-Camden ( SNC) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-eligible faculty appointment at the rank of Professor. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary faculty committed to advancing excellence in research, teaching, and service. With a strong emphasis on innovation, improving health across populations and preparing nurses for evolving healthcare challenges, this appointment will significantly strengthen the school's research profile and national visibility.
Appointment rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, sustained record of extramural funding, and demonstrated impact as a nurse scientist.

Position Summary

The Professor will be a recognized leader in nursing research with a sustained record of extramural funding (at least five years), impactful scholarship, and demonstrated expertise in mentoring. The faculty member will contribute to all missions of the school, with primary emphasis on expanding research capacity and impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

* Develop, lead, and sustain an independent, extramurally funded program of research that contributes to nursing science and improves health outcomes.
* Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including doctoral candidates, and assist faculty in advancing their research portfolios and securing competitive external funding.
* Contribute to teaching across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in areas of expertise.
* Lead or collaborate in interdisciplinary, community-based research and health policy implications/outcomes.
* Disseminate research findings through high-impact peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and translational activities.
* Provide leadership and service to the School of Nursing-Camden, Rutgers University, the profession, and the community (e.g., committee service, accreditation, professional organizations).

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Nursing or a closely related field.
  • Sustained record of extramural funding as a principal investigator for at least five years.
  • National/international reputation as a nurse scientist with evidence of impactful contributions to the field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at multiple levels (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral).
  • Evidence of successful mentorship of faculty or doctoral students.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Commitment to advancing equity in health and nursing education.

Certifications/Licenses
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for RN licensure in New Jersey.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience assisting faculty in advancing their research portfolios and securing competitive external funding.
* Demonstrated success in interdisciplinary or interprofessional collaboration.
* Leadership experience in academic program development or research centers.

We became the fourth designated school at Rutgers University-Camden in 2011, but our tradition of excellence in nursing education extends to 1972 when the Rutgers University-Camden Department of Nursing was first established. For the past 4 decades, Rutgers-School of Nursing Camden has prepared world-class nurses- educating health care providers, scholars, and leaders from diverse backgrounds who advance change and promote well-being across the homes, hospitals, and communities they serve, while contributing to a Nursing workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities both locally and globally.
The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden Center for Excellence in Inter-professional Practice, Education, and Innovation ( CEIPEI) provides opportunities for active learning, promotes interprofessional collaboration, and stimulates innovation in nursing education and practice. The CEIPEI is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). The Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Education Program ( WOCNEP), a certificate within the School of Nursing-Camden's graduate program, is currently the only accredited graduate level WOC program in the United States. Offered in both online and on-campus formats, the WOCNEP recruits students from across the nation. Our MSN in School Health is the first School Nurse Certificate Program based upon the National Association of School Nurses' ( NASN) Framework for the 21st Century School Nursing Practice.
