Barnes has a challenging and rewarding career opportunity and is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join its leadership team. The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for achieving strategic purchasing objectives, operational requirements, and business goals aligned with the centralized purchasing program across Force and Motion Control (FMC), including managing and developing a team of employees to ensure a world class supply chain organization. The Supply Chain Manager is further responsible for key supplier relationships, supplier identification, site specific contracts and long-term agreements, purchase forecasting/accuracy as it pertains to sales inventory operations planning (SIOP) and communicating analysis information to sites of responsibility. Core Responsibilities:



  • Lead and develop a high-performing purchasing team that supports global operations, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to drive proactive solutions for product-related challenges, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Strengthen and sustain long-term supplier agreements and strategic partnerships aligned with FMC Supply Chain objectives, optimizing global sourcing strategies.
  • Assess supplier processes, implement performance metrics, and drive initiatives to achieve the lowest total supply chain costs while maximizing product value.
  • Champion cross-functional and purchasing-led continuous improvement projects, streamlining internal processes for enhanced efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain reports to support strategic supply chain and site-level goals, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and business leadership to craft and execute cohesive supply chain solutions that support company growth, new product development, and market expansion.
  • Drive total cost productivity by optimizing supplier terms, reducing inventory levels, and ensuring adherence to performance metrics, including fill rates, delivery, quality, and contract compliance.
  • Ensure supplier data integrity and accuracy within information systems, facilitating transparency and reliability in supply chain operations.
  • Design and implement strategic sourcing initiatives that align with corporate objectives, leveraging global procurement best practices.
  • Partner with Finance to resolve payment discrepancies, accurately track productivity projects, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements across all supplier relationships, proactively mitigating risks.
  • Lead efforts to optimize key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, inventory value reduction, demand planning accuracy, backlog management, and forecasting precision.
  • Possess deep expertise in global trade regulations, serving as an importer of record and navigating tariff implications to minimize costs and enhance compliance.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Qualifications:



  • Advanced PC skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office package with emphasis on Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and Access (or Sequel); ability to learn other software packages and maintain an awareness of technological advancements.
  • Superior leadership abilities and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of total product cost and 'should-cost' analysis for use in negotiations.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to make decisions and recommendations based on data analysis required.
  • Ability to quickly learn technical aspects of assigned commodity responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible global sourcing experience; knowledge of global commodity markets in low-cost countries highly preferred; strong distribution and/or manufacturing knowledge a plus.
  • Proven success interacting with peers, senior management, direct reports, and other functional areas to ensure the best overall product line offering is developed at the lowest total cost.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business or related field; MBA preferred.
  • APICS/CPIM certification preferred.
