As a Lead Welder at Ryerson, you will be responsible for all welding related tasks as well as other responsibilities that are assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate equipment to cut material, chamfer, debur, or groove parts as required by processing instruction
- Applies appropriate welding processes to join various sized weldments or make repairs to weldments or individual plates
- Works according to layouts, drawings, blue prints, work orders and schematics using manual, robot or semi-automatic welding equipment. May need to lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies of some materials
- Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
- Unloading inbound trucks using forklifts and overhead cranes
- Review and understand customer tickets
- Locating material and verifying grade, size and quantity, by visually inspecting and physically measuring material
- Inspects all completed work for conformance to required material specifications
- Willing to perform other jobs as needed based on qualifications

Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years welding experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial warehouse setting preferred
- Knowledge of and ability to use tape measure, micrometer and caliper a must
- Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
- Computer proficiency
- Detail oriented
- Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
