Job Summary

The Associate II - Record Management performs duties related to facilitating requests made pursuant to Wisconsin Public Record Laws.

The salary range is $64,538.87 - $92,688.74 (260 days/12-months)

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in library science, business administration, public policy, accounting or a related field is desired.
  • Demonstrated progress toward attaining a relevant degree is also acceptable.
  • Two to four years of experience in the public sector or legal environments is required.
  • Proficiency in technical or legal writing is essential

Experience Requirements

  • Two to four years of experience in records and information management required.
  • Experience with using an electronic document management system is desired.
  • Familiarity with using outdated forms of record retention, such as CDs, floppy disks, microfilm, and microfiche, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise with converting these formats, is essential.
  • Experience in the public sector or with public policy or editing, proofreading and attention to detail is a plus.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
Responsibilities

  • Fills requests for access to district records, including gathering and analyzing records for appropriate public access.
  • Review documents under district policy and Wisconsin Public Records law for release to the public
  • Prepares documentation for, and drafts responses to public records requests, including determining legal rationale for public access.
  • Reviews district records for responsiveness and suggest releasable determinations.
  • Ensures released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable statutes or other non-releasable information.
  • Prepares records for release, including the redaction of materials to be withheld, and scanning or duplicating materials as necessary.
  • Maintains complete and detailed notes on all assigned cases.
  • Assists with the research needs of members of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.
  • Drafts resolutions and other documents in support of members of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.
  • Supports the work of the Milwaukee Public Schools Record Management Advisory Committee.
