Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to three years of full-time work in one or a combination of the following: management, administrative support to management, or clerical experience.

Substitution of College Education for Experience: Course work credit received from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis to a maximum of three years (e.g., 45 quarter hours may substitute for one year of the required experience).

OR

Experience equivalent to one year as a Licensing Technician with the State of Tennessee.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for regulatory boards administrative work of routine difficulty; and performs related work as required. An employee in this class handles administrative activities for a board or boards necessary for the execution of statutes and mandates. This class differs from Reg Board Admin Asst 2 in that an incumbent of the latter performs duties of greater scope and complexity and may supervise a small staff. This class differs from Licensing Technician in that an incumbent of the latter provides the clerical support needed to determine eligibility for licenses, permits, or certifications covered by standard procedures.

Responsibilities

  1. Reviews and evaluates licensure/applications, permits, certifications, and/or other statements of authority for completeness and accuracy and makes recommendations to accept or reject in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
  2. Maintains and processes licensure payment records and accounts for fees to include refunds and returned checks. Enters and/or revises data from multiple sources into database.
  3. Coordinates the collection and preparation of reports for submission to the board. Discusses any issues concerning the preparation of reports with supervisor.
  4. Examines the status of cases and relates findings to appropriate personnel.
  5. Responds to applicant inquiries and provides information to external entities regarding licenses and related information. May handles complaints and explain policy and procedures.
  6. Schedules and notifies applicants of competency examinations. May coordinate meetings for pertinent boards and commissions.
  7. May issue licenses, certificates, registration, or other statements of authority to practice in an occupation or profession.
  8. May instruct peers and subordinates on the performance of job duties. May order equipment and supplies.

TN Driver Standards

State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
