Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter represents all State officials, employees, agencies, departments, boards, and commissions in matters arising from their public duties. Such representation includes litigation, transactional assistance, and general legal advice to a wide variety of State entities. The Attorney General's Office employs approximately 200 attorneys organized into 21 legal divisions within 6 sections.

Job Overview:

The Executive Assistant to the Office of the Attorney General's C-level executives provides comprehensive, high-level support to the executives by coordinating and managing their administrative needs to maximize their time. The Executive Assistant must be able to work independently with minimal direction from the executives. The role requires advanced organizational and communication skills, critical thinking, excellent judgment, professionalism, a good attitude, and a sense of humor. This is in an in-office position with limited remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange, plan, and coordinate complex schedules, agendas, and logistical details for meetings and events. This includes managing full calendars, using independent judgment in determining scheduling priorities, and preparing relevant materials in advance of meetings for the executives.
  • Manage and monitor emails to ensure executives can easily access high-priority information and timely review and respond to emails requiring their attention.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare detailed travel portfolios, including itineraries and all other relevant materials.
  • Proofread and edit correspondence, documents, presentations, and other written materials to ensure accuracy, completeness, quality, and adherence to office policies and standards.
  • Provide an open line of communication and act as a liaison between the executives and others in the Office, clients, and outside parties.
  • Create and manage electronic filing systems.
  • Manage a variety of special projects with limited oversight and involvement from the executives.
  • Manage sensitive matters with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Communicate with confidence and professionalism, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate.
  2. At least 5 years' experience providing high-level administrative support to senior leadership. Experience in a legal setting preferred.
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to balance priorities, be flexible, and work well under pressure.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
