Lab Manager/Biomechanical engineer
Job Summary Involves the development of and ensures compliance with clinical study protocols that involve human subjects. Oversees and resolves operational aspects of clinical studies or trials in conjunction with project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures and good clinical practice and regulations. May be responsible for finances, clinical operations, and site and vendor selection
This position leads the operations of the Motion Analysis lab and will work closely with the CP Physician Director to coordinate the clinical and research aims of the Motion Analysis Lab. This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the motion analysis lab staff, including the support and partnership to recruit and the training of staff. They are also responsible for developing policies and procedures for motion analysis lab operations. They will function as an independent investigator with complete responsibility for his/her research program and will be expected to establish a strong record of research & scholarship. The role will serve in a leadership role in the interpretation of full-body kinematics and kinetics of gait, running, and other human performance activities. They will be expected to maintain independent extramural funding. They will develop and sustain productive, collaborative relationships within and outside the organization at the national level. They will be expected to participate in hospital or professional service activities and may serve in a leadership capacity in professional organizations
Applies extensive knowledge of clinical research protocols and processes to design research projects of large scope and high degrees of complexity. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $104,000 - $156,300 (Annual Rate). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and minimum four years of experience or equivalent experience / training.
- Proven ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Advanced knowledge of clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems.
- Advanced knowledge of clinical research practices and philosophy, and ability to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements in methodology. Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- In depth critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution. Creatively addresses complex or new problems.
- Advanced communication skills; including verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Clear and concise communicator.

- Advanced interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership with other team members. Works well with others to achieve common goals.
- In depth ability to work collaboratively with other cross-functional teams.
- In depth ability to interface, collaborate and influence / persuade other members of an extended study team.
