Taft is seeking a Chief Human Resources Officer to join our senior leadership team.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Chief Human Resources Officer will partner with senior leadership to oversee Human Resources strategy, policy and compliance, ensuring alignment with the firm's mission, values, and long-term goals. This role will serve as a trusted advisor on employment law matters. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in labor and employment law, a proactive mindset, and a passion for fostering a fair and inclusive workplace. Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Directly responsible for managing the human resources and benefits teams.
  • Reports to the Chief Operating Officer and executive leadership.
  • Develop and execute human resources strategies that support the firm's business objectives and growth plans.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on talent management, organizational design, best practices, and workforce planning.
  • Draft, review, and update employment-related agreements, policies, handbooks, and procedures.
  • Oversee recruitment strategies for legal professionals and administrative staff.
  • Design and implement onboarding and training programs.
  • Lead succession planning and career pathing for key administrative roles.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.
  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and engagement initiatives.
  • Design competitive compensation structures and benefits packages tailored to the legal industry.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee performance management systems and annual review processes for legal staff.
  • Maintain accurate human resources records and ensure data privacy and security.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (master's or JD preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive human resources leadership experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proven ability to lead strategic human resources initiatives and manage complex organizational change.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compensation practices, and human resources technologies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical practices.
