EEE FAILURE ANALYSIS LAB TECHNICIAN

The EEE (electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical/electro-optical) Parts Reliability team at SpaceX is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to ensuring the reliability of flight components, including integrated circuits, discrete semiconductors, and passive hardware.As a lab technician on the EEE Parts Reliability team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining characterization equipment and machinery in our failure analysis laboratory. You will collaborate closely with engineers and specialists to destructively evaluate electrical piece part and PCB workmanship and quality; execute custom test profiles for accelerated testing; and manage equipment calibrations and maintenance.The ideal candidate exhibits keen attention to detail; upholds the highest standards of lab safety, organization, and cleanliness; and collaborates well with peers and customers of varying backgrounds and levels of experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform sample preparation and microsection analysis of PCBs, PCBAs, and other electrical components
  • Perform failure isolation and analysis on PCBs, PCBAs, and IC components in close collaboration with a EEE failure analysis engineer
  • Set up and monitor metallurgical, electrical, and thermal testing equipment
  • Perform precise measurements with microscopy tools
  • Manage lab consumables and equipment calibration and maintenance


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience working in a hands-on laboratory position
  • 1+ years of experience performing electronics testing, electronics inspection, and/or troubleshooting


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience with EEE piece parts and components
  • Experience with non-destructive analysis techniques such as Visual Inspection, X-Ray, CT scan, and SEM.
  • Experience with destructive analysis techniques such as Cross Section, Parallel Lapping and Polishing, dye and pry, and chemical decapsulation
  • Understanding of basic electronic theory
  • Some experience in electrical trouble shooting
  • Able to work independently and problem solve efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and able to work well on a team
  • Able to stay organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be comfortable working in tight spaces.
  • Must be comfortable using power tools like saws and sanders.
  • Must be comfortable using hand tools like awls, hammers, or shears.
  • Must be comfortable in handling corrosive chemicals using proper PPE
  • Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, over time, and weekends as needed.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
EEE Failure Analysis Technician/Level 1: $25.00 - $33.00/hour
EEE Failure Analysis Technician/Level 2: $30.00 - $39.00/hour
EEE Failure Analysis Technician/Level 3: $35.00 - $45.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
