Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the daily operations of the accounting department. This role is critical to ensuring sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in support of company-wide objectives and growth initiatives. The Controller will oversee financial reporting, month-end close, payroll and billing functions, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and collaborates closely with executive leadership on strategic financial planning and compliance matters.

Location: Hybrid - Candidates must reside within commuting distance of Sabre Systems' Lexington Park, MD office and be available to work on-site a minimum of three days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense reporting, billing, and payroll.
  • Manage the monthly close process, including preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules and reconciliations.
  • Support the VP of Finance in reporting operational metrics, analyzing indirect expenses, and conducting variance analyses.
  • Maintain robust internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and other applicable government contracting regulations as well as the Disclosure Statement.
  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of financial systems to improve automation, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Position the company for growth and scalability.
  • Lead the annual external audit process for Sabre Systems and any affiliated joint ventures.
  • Coordinate quarterly tax filings, payments, and preparation of final returns.
  • Prepare and submit the annual Incurred Cost Submission (ICS).

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 6 years in management roles within the government contracting services sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA certification or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven expertise in Deltek Costpoint; experience with Deltek Business Intelligence report writing is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing accounting teams in dynamic environments.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisive contributions.
  • Experience designing and implementing accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.

Compensation:

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation for internal positions is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, performance, and role requirements. The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $175,000 with final compensation determined by individual qualifications and internal equity considerations.
