GP Strategies has an opening for an Aircraft Maintenance/Flight Line Instructor in Palmdale, CA. This is a full-time, benefitted position. Job Summary:
- Plans and delivers aircraft maintenance flightline operations and final assembly training for factory production employees and field support personnel.
- Conducts training and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.
- Executes and maintains company-wide training programs as well as the maintenance of a company-wide training and qualification record system.
- Responsible for instilling and maintaining process discipline through classroom instruction and lab sessions.
- Prepares classrooms and sets-up training materials; conducts classroom, shop and simulator training (if required) with customers for the purpose of developing and maintaining a high degree of proficiency.
- Maintains currency in technical development, technical training, and audiovisual techniques including the maintenance of applicable courseware.
- Interfaces with supervisors to determine training and certification requirements for assigned personnel and make recommendations to supervision/management for de-certification due to substandard performance and/or the inability to complete assigned tasks within established time parameters.
- Some light travel will be required to other training facilities at Edwards Air Force Base and surrounding areas.
- May coordinate training content with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- May analyze current operating problems and future operating requirements to identify training needs and assist in the development of training programs.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will possess at least four years of experience in aircraft maintenance, flightline operations, and/or aircraft production final assembly.
- Active Secret Clearance
- Possess at least two years of experience as an instructor. Instructor skills include: classroom lecturing or coaching/mentoring students/employees in a skills-based lab or On-the-Job environment to help them achieve training objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of inspection, repair, and operation of aircraft, aircraft systems, ground support equipment, tools, and test equipment.
- Education Requirement: Vocational / Military Training.
- Experience in aircraft ground handling procedures to include: refuel/defuel, basic servicing (oil, hydraulic, LOX, nitrogen, etc.), mooring, jacking, towing, inspection and launch & recovery operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge in maintenance and servicing of aircraft systems, particularly related to military fighter aircraft (F-16, F-22 & F-35).
- Knowledge of aviation manufacturing and subassembly manufacturing processes including: understanding of installation, operational checkout, troubleshooting, and maintenance of aircraft systems including fuel systems, hydraulics and landing gear systems, flight controls, electrical systems, egress systems and propulsion systems at the crew chief and/or final assembly levels.
- Ability to establish and deliver training systems and/or conduct classroom and practical instruction to provide technical knowledge on installation and removal of components, testing, analysis, rework, adjustment, modification, inspection and troubleshooting of aircraft systems at all levels of final assembly and flightline operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is a plus and will be taken into consideration when looking at experience.
- Knowledge in maintaining U-2 aircraft systems.
- Formal military Egress system training a plus.
- Prior personnel management or leadership experience in an aircraft production environment.
- Experience in manufacturing training including Instructional System Design (ISD) concepts.
- Capable of writing, editing, and producing materials for technical instruction; provide assistance and support to production operations by helping determine training needs; and delivering effective training.

- Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

- Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.
