We are seeking resumes for a Superintendent - Electrical and Instrumentation in our Gladstone, VA. Riverville Paper Mill.


Responsibilities


Protect the plant's equipment and facilities through work planning, failure analysis, continuous improvement, operational troubleshooting, employee training and development and organization optimization. Responsible for all aspects of the distributed control system and control network. Oversee operation of plant storeroom. Direct activities of Purchasing Department related to procurement of indirect materials, chemicals, capital equipment, fuel oil, and natural gas.


Principal Accountabilities:



  • Ensure safe and caring operation by applying all safety rules, practices, and systems and adhering to high ethical standards.
  • Achieve objectives for Virginia Operations through goal planning, direction setting, work execution, and review of daily operations, environmental issues, government compliance, and market conditions with managers.
  • Ensure quality/efficiency/customer satisfaction through the application of Total Quality and utilization of the DOC system, reductions in cycle time, elimination of non-value-adding work, and decision-making at the lowest practical level.
  • Manage costs by developing long-range capital plans and operating budgets and practical reductions in day- to-day expenses.
  • Optimize human resources by establishing realistic and achievable performance standards and goals, ensuring succession planning, developing job skills, auditing and addressing performance accomplishments and issues, identifying and eliminating performance barriers, applying the labor contract, and using consistent human resource support practices and tools.


  • Utilize needed services available from support groups and outside services by consistently and timely communicating operating goals and objectives and developing support/service plans and activities for assistance.
  • Provides leadership/direction to departmental staff assigned, support groups, and hourly employees operating one recovery boiler, two package boilers, two combination fuel boilers, evaporators, concentrators, a steam turbine generator, a wastewater treatment system to include a sludge dewatering plant, demineralizers, and all auxiliary equipment associated with the above systems in an accident-free environment.
  • Under the leadership of this position, the team must ensure that products and services meet or exceed the expectations of internal and external customers. Additionally, this position must ensure an acceptable level of employee satisfaction, develop employee skills, maintain assets, optimize processes, and execute appropriate capital improvements in the most cost-effective manner possible.
  • Assist with MS Project timelines for monthly and annual outages.


Planned and executed capital projects for maintenance replacements of equipment.



  • Effectively manage jobs for the best result at the lowest cost.


Look for opportunities to solve issues, reduce costs, and improve planning performance.



  • Effectively manages contractors for performing jobs.



Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent education and experience required


  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Technical degree and/or comparable experience in Industrial Electricity and Instrumentation.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems.
  • Paper Industry experience.
