Job Description

The Facility Attendant performs custodial tasks, event set-up, take-down, change-over, and customer service as well as maintenance duties necessary to ensure the successful and comfortable execution of events for customers of university facilities, which includes adjusting work hours depending on events. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the cleanliness of event spaces and meeting rooms, so they are ready for guests. Occasionally this position may be on site for an event to ensure ongoing cleanliness for long duration events. When available, this position may be called upon to work with the theater technical crew or event ops crew to assist in preparing for, running, or tearing down events.

Custodial Work:
-Maintain the public and private restrooms at the Missouri Theatre as well as the private restrooms (dressing rooms, offices) at Jesse Auditorium by consistently cleaning and stocking based on usage.
-Regularly vacuum, sweep, and mop auditoriums and meeting rooms as needed prior to events and meetings. This work may take place in the theaters, MU Student Union, or Memorial Union.
-Maintain surfaces and remove trash.
-Maintain windows and mirrors.
-Weekly schedule will be developed in coordination with venue management and the event load.
-Periodically deep clean event and ancillary spaces including stairwells, carpet, upholstery, and hard surface flooring.

Maintenance:
-Monitor and order equipment, supplies and cleaning chemicals to meet projected needs.

Event Setup:
-As needed and scheduled by venue management staff, assist theater and event ops crews to set up, run, and tear down events.

Supervision:
-Occasionally oversee student assistant staff assigned to help with cleaning and maintenance duties.

Minimum Qualifications

* A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
* A valid driver's license may be required.
* Ability on a daily basis to:
- Lift, carry, and set down objects of moderate weight (25-50 lbs.)
- Grasp broom and mop handles
- Work around dust and cleaning chemicals
- Climb stairs, step stools, and ladders
* Must be able to read and write.
* Ability to set up and operate audiovisual equipment including but not limited to projectors and peripherals (stands, remote controls, screens, etc.); video equipment; microphones; radio; computers and peripherals; auxiliary equipment (laser pointers, flip charts, slide trays, etc.); lighting and speakers.
* Proven ability to learn the technical aspects of the position and stay abreast as changes in technology and equipment occur.
* Must be able to work varied hours based on business needs and special events schedule. Working hours are dependent upon the events scheduled for the week.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience cleaning public spaces
* Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures and the safe handling of associated chemicals
* Experience with automated cleaning machines
* Experience with floor maintenance equipment
* Exposure to the event process
* Basic customer service

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $13.75-$17.17/hour

Grade: GGS-C
