Job Description

Compensation Range: $18.50/h - $25.00/h Dependent on Experience

SUMMARY

The Quality Tech - Source Inspection is a specialized quality control inspector responsible for preparing castings for shipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compile data and review casting certifications for part shipment. Perform diversified duties to review orders for source inspection presentation and approval by visiting customer inspection personnel.

  • Receive and process all returned castings.

  • Accumulate purchase orders, inspection records, and all data necessary to review presentation of completed castings.

  • Assist visiting customer inspection personnel; review additional information and perform any extra operations necessary to attain approval.

  • Perform required tasks to package castings for shipment, as necessary.

  • Receive and inspect all returned castings and determine reason for customer rejection. Initiate rework and salvage requirements and review required operation instructions.

  • Expedite rework to re-ship castings; follow through salvage operations to maintain document control at all times.

  • Review and maintain records including dates, reason for rejection, rework required, and final outcome. Maintain shipping records and files.

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report these and any unusual conditions to proper supervision.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies, and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment. Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.

  • Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety and health evaluations and programs.

  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of the facility.

  • Perform all physical functions* of position.

  • Meet established attendance standards.

  • Work overtime as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

  • Work with various reports, forms, and records where interpretation is required.

  • Accuracy in checking, counting, weighing, and record keeping.

  • May use weigh scale, postage meter, or similar equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, turn, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
