Chief Data Office (Waltham, MA) Our National Grid Data Science team works cross-functionally mining big and small data and applying a variety of AI and data science techniques to solve business challenges. As a Gridtern, you will collaborate to complete a specific project by: working directly with multiple teams of stakeholders to understand and address their analytic needs; partnering with Data Engineering to identify, extract, prepare, and integrate data sets ranging from spreadsheets to big data; employing advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods for predictive and prescriptive modeling, forecasting, and simulations; and communicating modeling approaches, results, and business outcomes. .
Customer - Clean Energy (Waltham, MA) Our Customer Clean Energy team is dedicated to developing tailored sales processes for various customer segments and collaborating with vendors to engage with clients effectively. This team enhances account management capabilities for commercial and industrial clients. They primarily operate within the Salesforce platform to promote energy efficiency and electric vehicle (EV) products and solutions for our utility customers. The team focuses on understanding customer needs and developing digital products and solutions that enable businesses to meet their Clean Energy objectives, including energy efficiency, EV integration, Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), and Distributed Energy Resources (DER), all in a cost-effective and efficient manner. As a Gridtern, you will have the chance to explore the complete sales process, document it, and assist with any required technical modifications in Salesforce. In this role, you will generate Salesforce reports and dashboards as needed while developing an understanding of architectural solutions and relevant integrations. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to assume responsibilities as a Scrum Master or Product Owner as we adopt agile delivery practices. .
Data Science/Machine Learning Engineering (Waltham, MA) Our Data Science & Machine Learning Engineering team at National Grid, part of the Chief Data Office, is essential in fostering innovation and efficiency throughout our organization. By leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI, this team addresses complex challenges, integrates data from various sources, and collaborates across the business to create meaningful impact. They transform information into insights, optimizing energy delivery, improving customer experiences, and shaping the future of energy. .
Gas Resource Coordination (Waltham, MA) Our Gas Resource Coordination team operates from various gas operations offices, working collaboratively across multiple departments to ensure the efficient completion of tasks while adhering to regulatory deadlines. This group is responsible for managing the annual work plan and ensuring its daily implementation to meet year-end objectives. As a Gridtern, you will support the coordination team in developing new reporting tools and dashboards, as well as conducting advanced data analysis. You will provide suggestions for enhancing operational efficiency, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the gas operations. This internship will offer you valuable experience in resource coordination and data management within the energy sector. .
IT Group Security (Waltham, MA) Our IT Group Security team operates within the broader IT & Digital model and comprises two main components: the Business Unit CISO (BU CISO) and the Centers of Excellence (COE). The BU CISO serves as a vital link between business units and the Group Security function, providing strategic guidance and specialized expertise. Meanwhile, the Centers of Excellence deliver services to multiple business units, leveraging scale and specialist knowledge to establish compliance frameworks and execute necessary activities as a Public Limited Company (PLC). This team collaborates with various business and product teams to define needs, identify issues, evaluate solutions, and implement improvements. As a Gridtern, you will assist the team by monitoring suspected cyber-attacks through technical analysis to understand, quantify, and anticipate the actions of threat actors. You will also have the chance to collaborate closely with various security and Group IT teams to ensure the ongoing success of our organization's digital data network. Load Forecasting and Analytics - Energy Procurement (Waltham, MA) Our Load Forecasting & Analytics team, part of the Energy Procurement department at National Grid, develops electric and gas load forecasts that support both strategic planning and daily operations. Using a range of analytical techniques, including statistical modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, and optimization, this team forecasts demand across multiple regions and timeframes. Their work not only informs critical company decisions but is also shared with various internal teams and external stakeholders, including ISOs and regulators. .
US Electric Software Engineering (Waltham, MA) Our U.S. Electric Software Engineering team designs and builds software that streamlines communication between our organization's various systems. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements. Please note that as a Gridtern, you must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. You must also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
