Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Principal Consultant(Part-Time role) with experience in providing services to clients that support executive and management level decision making. These advisory services are the "value add" perspective and tactical approach that demonstrates HDR's insight and understanding of the challenges facing our clients. Experience in providing the greatest opportunity to provide leadership and support in organizational consulting, strategic planning, and project and program management. Emphasis should be in the following service areas:

  • Policy development
  • Strategic planning and program development
  • Innovative financial strategies and funding options
  • Asset management review
  • Governmental Affairs and legislative strategy development
  • Coalition development and group facilitation
  • Administration and interagency collaboration
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic communications and messaging
  • Workforce development
  • Leadership training program development

Applying professionals must show the ability to: Build on strong relationships with public sector clients at all levels of government, helping to identify, pursue and capture identified pursuits. Strengthen and expand relationships with existing and potential clients through regular and consistent contact. Represent HDR with various national, regional and local organizations to increase HDR's profile among potential and existing clients. Monitor trends in industry, changes in national, state and local policies as well as funding and financing development opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS and MS in Planning, Engineering or related field is required.
  • 25+ years of relevant experience with executive management and advisory services in transportation policy and program development.
  • Experience working with Transit Clients in North America and International Markets.
  • High understanding of the client's scope of work, highly capability in delivering the project requirements and risk assessments including reports writing / presenting, and implementing withstanding on schedule.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • A minimum of 20 years as a consultant and extensive related experience
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and present summary level information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow-up skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Washington D.C.: $209,814.00 - $283,866.00.
